Latest Crosslane student accommodation developments are brought to fruition

Posted on 28th September 2017

Crosslane Student Developments has recently unveiled its latest high specification student accommodation projects, in time for the intake of students for the new academic year. Patrick Parsons’ ongoing relationship with Crosslane strengthens with the opening of Albert Place, Newcastle and Brass Founders, Sheffield.

Albert Place is the fourth Crosslane student accommodation property in Newcastle which Patrick Parsons have been involved in over the past four years, bringing the total number of beds Crosslane has created in the city to 700, with a combined value of £60m.

The all-inclusive 134 bed accommodation boasts high quality communal facilities, including a common room, onsite gym and landscaped private outdoor courtyard.

Patrick Parsons provided multi-disciplinary services on the project, which was delivered on time and within budget, within a 10-month period. We provided M&E services, including performance specification while our Geoenvironmental team provided the initial ground investigation of the site to assist the structural solution.

Brass Founders is Crosslane’s first student accommodation in Sheffield. Patrick Parsons provided civil, structural, M&E, geoenvironmental and party wall services for the 437-bed development which provides modern accommodation, comprising three new residential blocks laid out in a U-shape to form a large, private landscaped courtyard.

High specification materials have been selected to create a brick and glass façade, with solar panels on the roof and outbuildings that have a green “living” roof. Site levels varied across the site and the building was designed accordingly to incorporate a ‘semi-basement’ lower ground floor, with in situ reinforced concrete retaining walls.

Both of these impressive developments have been shortlisted for the Education Investor Awards 2017.
