Since leaving school Andy has been employed in consulting structural and civil engineering practice in the West Midlands. Initially, his education and training followed the traditional technician route including ONC, HNC, and HND culminating in Associate Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers. He subsequently gained a prize winning BSc(Hons) Civil Engineering (First Class), and a multi award winning MA Historic Environment Conservation (Distinction). He has been a Chartered Engineer for over 30 years.

Andrew’s experience has primarily been associated with building structures, and includes structural design and detailing, structural appraisal, building forensics, project management of multi-discipline teams, leadership on individual and term commissions, and business development. Additionally, he has acted as an expert witness, presented lectures to both Local Authority and University audiences, and acted as principal research lead and author of published technical literature.

Outside of work he enjoys playing guitar, cycling, motorbiking, cooking, real ale, and building DIY.
