A Patrick Parsons’ project has been nominated in the 2016 RICS North East Awards, which will single out the best new buildings in the North East.

Motel One, a 222-bed luxury budget hotel in High Bridge, Newcastle, has been shortlisted in two categories – Commercial Property and Tourism & Leisure.

Patrick Parsons was commissioned by developer Kier Property to work on the three-year project which was completed at the end of last year. Structural, civil and geoenvironmental services were provided in the renovation of the existing building and the design of a multi-storey steel frame with metal decking for the new part of the building.

It follows a successful year at the 2015 Awards which saw another of the firm’s projects, Hexham Abbey, crowned as the winner of the Tourism & Leisure category.

The annual awards give everything from small-scale schemes to multi-million pound developments the chance to gain industry recognition, along with the teams behind them.

All category winners will go on to compete against other regional winners at the national RICS Awards Grand Final in October 2016.
