Multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm, Patrick Parsons, is building its Birmingham-based geo-environmental arm from the ground up with a new specialist team in place.

From its Stewart & Harris Birmingham office, the firm already delivers civil and structural engineering services, and will now be well-positioned to also provide geo-environmental services to its client base.

This creation of the new team comes as a result of growing demand across the Midlands for Patrick Parsons’ ground engineering and geo-environmental services, which range from desktop study and ground investigation to remediation strategies and risk assessment.

Chris Storey joined Patrick Parsons – which has eight UK-based and two international offices – in December last year as an associate director, bringing with him 15 years of experience in the industry.

Chris will head up the new team, supported by newly appointed geo-environmental engineer Ashley Copestake. Ashley has worked for a number of firms based in the Midlands region, gaining seven years of experience.

Another geo-environmental engineer is due to join the team next month and there are plans to recruit an additional two team members over the next six months.

Chris Storey commented: “I am excited to be leading the development of a new geo-environmental team at Patrick Parsons here in Birmingham. I am really looking forward to working with the new recruits and also to increasing the depth of knowledge and expertise we can offer our clients.”

John Dyson, director of Stewart & Harris, added: “Demand for geo-environmental engineering services in the area has grown considerably, so the timing is right for us to launch this service offering. The talented and experienced team in place will be able to drive the discipline forward and work on the exciting projects we have in the pipeline.

“The firm now has national coverage across all engineering disciplines, which is a vital part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans.”
