A Patrick Parsons employee has been elected as a member of the West Midlands Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) Graduates and Students committee.
Robert Masson, civil engineer in Patrick Parsons’ Birmingham office, was elected as Communications Officer at the committee’s AGM held in Birmingham city centre on 13th October.
Run by volunteer graduates and students, the group organise a host of social and continuing professional development events throughout the year which provide the graduate and student members with the opportunity to share best practice, engage with the latest research and industry developments, run their own seminars and events with ICE funding and also to network with other civil engineers.
Robert’s role as Communications Officer will involve managing internal documents, assisting with the design and distribution of event advertising, undertaking communication with the ICE HQ and writing a quarterly newsletter.
Robert, who has worked for Patrick Parsons since 2013, said: “I’m looking forward to using my new role to promote and generate interest in the programme of the Graduates and Students Committee. Last year we had a number of great events; seminars, workshops, speaking to undergraduates at several West Midlands Universities, including Birmingham, and technical guided tours of several major infrastructure sites.
“This coming year will see an exciting growth with a larger membership and it will be great to work alongside the other graduate engineers of the committee to engage our membership with the unique opportunities to be experienced with us.”
