Elaine Bissell, Patrick Parsons’ Technical Director (Building Services), has been shortlisted for ‘Engineer of the Year: Building Services’ at the Women in Construction Awards 2017.
Elaine, who is based in our Manchester office, has had an impressive career to date, building a vast portfolio of successful work from inception through to commissioning and handover. This includes university buildings, courts, hotels, retail, schools, office developments, master plans, new airport terminals, libraries and laboratories.
As well as an MSc. in Building Services Engineering from Glasgow University, Elaine gained an MSt. in Interdisciplinary Design in the Built Environment from Cambridge University before going on to gain chartered status. She is also a trainee interviewer with CIBSE for chartered engineer applicants. Elaine’s impressive academic achievements are translated into the day to day service that she provides to many prestigious clients including the Royal Northern College of Music.
In addition to her solid work ethic at Patrick Parsons, Elaine donates her time outside of work as a voluntarily STEM ambassador, which has involved going to local secondary schools to give various talks and presentations to encourage more young people into science and engineering, as well as helping to run an after school ‘Code Club’ for young computer programmers in her local primary school.
