The prestigious Pont Briwet Transportation Improvement Scheme in North Wales scooped the Innovation Award at this year’s ICE Wales Cymru Awards.
The scheme involved the replacement of the 1860s, Grade II listed timber bridge that crosses the river Dwyryd in Pont Briwet and took over two years to construct.
The Stilwell Partnership was part of the design team, working for bridge design engineer Hewsons, and provided all highways and drainage civil engineering design of the approach roads to the bridge.
The new bridge, which includes a dedicated cycle track linked to the National Cycle Network, cost £20m with funding from the European Regional Development Fund, Network Rail, the Welsh Government and Gwynedd Council.
The Stilwell Partnership joined the Parsons Group in December 2015. The Guildford-based firm specialises in traffic and transportation modelling, highways and infrastructure design and road safety engineering.
