Contaminated Land

Patrick Parsons’ Geoenvironmental team has a wealth of contaminated land experience gained from people with both contracting and consulting backgrounds.

From Director to graduate level, we have people with varying degrees of expertise. We routinely undertake ground investigations which invariably have an element of contaminated land risk assessment. This is generally from a generic, initial screening point of view but when significant contamination is present we also have the tools, experience and knowledge to undertake Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA) for both human health and controlled waters (groundwater and surface water). Consequently, we have also developed excellent working relationships with local planning authority contaminated land officers where local knowledge and relationships of trust are key to our success. Our contaminated land services also include ground gas risk assessment where we also have DQRA capability and experience.

Specific areas of new service offerings for Patrick Parsons in contaminated land are asbestos in soils, determination and remediation, materials management planning and soil as waste classifications. We routinely consult our in-house Asbestos colleagues in relation to risk assessment, management and mitigation of asbestos exposure from soils for brownfield development works.

We have strong expertise in polluted groundwater and dealing with fuel and hydrocarbon effected soils and have project work experience of such services in the UK, Middle East and Africa.
