The National Constructing Excellence Awards took place last Friday (16th November) at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, with Patrick Parsons scooping the Innovation award!
We received the award for our use of the smart ‘M&E Plug & Play’ method within an innovative new modular home product: ‘LaunchPod’ for L&G Homes. This project demonstrates a great example of offsite construction.
The current off-site construction market concentrates on the manufacturing of the building fabric alone, with the M&E services treated in a traditional manner and installed once on site in the same way that they have always been undertaken.
The M&E ‘Plug & Play’ method negates this lengthy onsite installation stage, allowing offsite installation of mechanical and electrical elements, which enables the implementation of comprehensive ‘Fabric First’ processes, in turn resulting in better insulation, air permeability and less potential cold bridges and reduced energy costs.
Patrick Parsons worked alongside Richmond Housing partnership, Wimshurst Pellereti Architects and Extreme Low Energy on the project.
