We are recruiting a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join our Huddersfield office, to support and increase the capacity of the Environment & Energy team by undertaking office and field base technical projects on time, within budget and to the agreed standards.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Plan and undertake geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigations around the UK
- Undertake inspection/supervision activities
- Soil logging to BS5930
- Scheduling laboratory tests and report writing
- Agree delivery targets with senior staff and report regularly on progress towards milestones
- Assist with the delivery of small projects or a small programme of work with guidance but minimal supervision
- Work in accordance with our systems and procedures, including those relating to Health & Safety, project & risk management
- Perform other duties that may from time to time be reasonably required
Key skills and qualifications
- Educated to 1st degree level in a relevant earth science or Geoenvironmental discipline is essential
- Master’s degree in a Geotechnical related subject desirable
- 1-4 years’ experience in a contracting or consultancy environment preferred
- Starting to work towards incorporated Chartered Status of a relevant professional institution
- Full UK driving licence and own transport essential
- IT literate
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Strong communication skills
- Confident in problem solving
- Capable of working independently
