Geoenvironmental Engineer

We are recruiting a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join our Huddersfield office, to support and increase the capacity of the Environment & Energy team by undertaking office and field base technical projects on time, within budget and to the agreed standards.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Plan and undertake geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigations around the UK
  • Undertake inspection/supervision activities
  • Soil logging to BS5930
  • Scheduling laboratory tests and report writing
  • Agree delivery targets with senior staff and report regularly on progress towards milestones
  • Assist with the delivery of small projects or a small programme of work with guidance but minimal supervision
  • Work in accordance with our systems and procedures, including those relating to Health & Safety, project & risk management
  • Perform other duties that may from time to time be reasonably required

Key skills and qualifications

  • Educated to 1st degree level in a relevant earth science or Geoenvironmental discipline is essential
  • Master’s degree in a Geotechnical related subject desirable
  • 1-4 years’ experience in a contracting or consultancy environment preferred
  • Starting to work towards incorporated Chartered Status of a relevant professional institution
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport essential
  • IT literate
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Confident in problem solving
  • Capable of working independently
