The shortlist for finalists in the London LABC Building Excellence Awards 2015 have been announced, with a JSA Consulting Engineers project being nominated under the category of ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’.
59 Kingston Road project is a mix of 40 new dwellings comprising of a 4 storey block of 34 apartments on Kingston Road in New Malden, a row of 5 three bedroom terrace houses and a three bedroom detached house in the courtyard.
The project also includes basement car parking which covers the whole footprint of the development, and hard landscaped courtyard gardens together with a mix of private gardens, patios and balconies on the podium slab.
Twickenham based JSA provided civil and structural services and were involved in this project from concept design stage; followed by the preliminary tender, detailed design stages and finally offering technical support through to completion.
The site in New Malden was a former petrol station and after the site was purchased for redevelopment, Formation Architects were appointed by developer Mizen Design Build to implement the design.
The awards will be announced at The Guildhall in London on Friday May 15th.
JSA became part of the Parsons Group, who operate nationally as Patrick Parsons, in November 2014.
