Great Britain’s Joe Clarke has won a gold medal in the canoe slalom men’s K1 final on day five of the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The 23-year-old clocked a winning time of 88.53 seconds to secure Team GB’s second gold of the Games.

Patrick Parsons was involved in the channel design and the installation of RapidBlocTM technology at the Lee Valley 2012 Olympic white water course, where Clarke earned his place at the British Olympic trials last year and spent the following months leading up to the Games training 6 days a week.

Patrick Parsons’ involvement at the centre continued with a prestigious Olympic Legacy contract where we assisted in designing and procuring a further £10m of additional supporting facilities to the site. Works included alterations and significant extensions to the existing facility building in addition to changing and improved catering and hospitality facilities. A new training and administration accommodation for the British Canoe Union (BCU) which included a gym and a physiotherapy suite was also introduced.
