Elaine Bissell, Technical Director in our Manchester office, is speaking at a National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) North East event today.

The event, which is being held at Newcastle University, will focus on what the world would look like with more female designers. Elaine’s presentation will explore how design is influenced by gender and is based on a book called Why Men Like Straight Lines and Women Like Polka Dots by Gloria Moss.

A very interesting discussion paper ‘What is the city but the people?’ produced by the ICE on the role of the engineer in creating exclusive cities can be viewed here.
