Patrick Parsons appointed on Yardley Brook Development

25 January 2021

We’re pleased to announce that we have been appointed by the Jessup Brothers Ltd to provide civil and structural engineering services, in relation to the development of 298 new houses at the site of the former Yardley Brook Sewage Works in Birmingham. Jessup Brothers have been selected by BMHT (Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust) which is the housing arm of Birmingham City Council to fulfil this scheme.

Spanning a 33 acre site, 91% of the homes will be two and three bedrooms and the remainder will be four bedroom properties. Out of 298 new homes, 148 properties will be put up for open market sale while the remaining 150 will deliver much needed social rented housing.

Patrick Parsons has previously been providing geo-environmental support to the Jessup Brothers, led by our Senior Partner Chris Storey, through the tender process as developing the site will require the excavation and treatment of 83,000m³ of sewage sludge.

The geo-environmental involvement will continue with Patrick Parsons assisting in gaining the necessary permits from the EA and approvals from the Local Authority, right through to completion of the development and undertaking final validation of the remediation works.

We will be working alongside the remediation contractor McAuliffe and BM3 who are the architect on the scheme. Both of whom we have had the pleasure of working with on previous projects over the years.
