As part of the redevelopment of the school, Patrick Parsons was involved in the construction of a complex three-dimensional curved North Light Saw Toothed Roof.
The use of North Lights maximised natural light into the classrooms and allowed the M&E engineers to use a natural ventilation solution for Air Extract. Photovoltaics were utilised on the roof and Patrick Parsons’ geoenvironmental team reviewed and investigated use of a biomass boiler and CHP option for heating. The project proved to be challenging as Woolston Community School remained open while work got underway on site.
