A pivotal project that saw the return of Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey production to the town of Tullamore, County Offaly, 60 years after the original distillery closed its doors.
Patrick Parsons were responsible for the design of all buildings for the development of the greenfield site, as well as extensive road and drainage solutions.
The site had extremely challenging ground conditions as it consisted of an overlying strata of peat and soft alluvial silt, over karstic limestone bedrock. This resulted in a complex foundation solution. The complex arrangement of buildings, necessary for the whiskey making process, was spread over a large site and required extensive co-ordination.
Geotechnical advice was provided, including 3D modelling of rockhead profile to provide target information to piling constractors, who were using an end bearing solution.
