Patrick Parsons were appointed to provide civil, structural, M&E and geotechnical services on the 1.1 acre site. The state of the art centre comprises four small households each catering to the needs of just 12 people living with dementia and designed to provide full security with maximum freedom by way of discrete safety features, hi-tech monitoring, and an integrated computer system.
Patrick Parsons collaborated with the architect to produce a sensory garden and ‘snoozelem’, a room with various types of sensory equipment.
The project achieved BREEAM “Very Good” for care homes, and the mechanical services provided by Patrick Parsons were developed to comply with a sustainable approach to design. Particular emphasis was placed on energy efficiency, use of environmentally friendly materials and maximising the use of renewable natural resources such as daylight, solar energy and free cooling techniques.
