The 9.2 acre site comprises of 250-bedroom hotel and work is currently underway on the delivery of 323 residential apartments.

Patrick Parsons conducted major site investigations on the complex scheme which was formerly a basement car park and sits above a main railway tunnel.

The poorly cemented nature of the sandstone rock bellow the site meant low torque drilling with water and foam was required to enable core samples to be recovered safely for lab testing.

The purpose of the investigation was to enable complex ground modelling to be performed to determine whether the proposed dual 17-22 storey towers could be built on a mass raft foundation, without causing excessive deflection of the adjacent underlying railway tunnel.
