NoWFOOD provides a centre of excellence for food science and technology for producers across the region. The project, valued at £5.1 million, has been co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the University of Chester.
The scheme comprises a three-storey building with laboratories for food technology, each with supporting technical preparation area and ancillary facilities for approximately 90 support staff.
Patrick Parsons provided full detailed MEP design for the scheme and as part of our brief, we prepared a renewable energy feasibility study to explore the most appropriate Low and Zero Carbon technologies (LZC’s). The scheme achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and ensured an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of 40 or better, which classifies the building as a highly energy efficient development.
