The West Wales Airport development saw a £1m runway extension and widening improvement to raise the 08 runway to Class 2C standard. This improvement enabled the airport to pursue its objective to become a centre of excellence for the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
Patrick Parsons Guildford office initially undertook a geotechnical investigation to establish ground conditions, with a further investigation of the existing surface water drainage and land drainage of the airport.
We were then subsequently appointed to provide a Civil Engineering Design of the Runway Extensions and Widening, Surface Water Drainage Design with on-site retention capacity and pavement design, regularly attending and inspecting the site during construction.
Civil Engineering Design Work was completed in March 2008.
